This week I did some more experimenting for my poster project with water colors and which type of pencils I would like to draw the hearts with (color, crayon, etc). I also found some political posters rooted in graphic design that I liked to get me more inspired. I know this next week I will be working hard on this outside of class so it's done by Friday. I drew over a photograph from a concert I went to this weekend from another photo of hands and people roughly.

I planned on working on my current project from class over the weekend but I wasn't on school on Friday so I didn't have it with me. Instead, I gathered some string to sew with for Monday. I also saw this really really cool photo on instagram and it inspired me to plan another project which I'll probably start outside of class for sketchbook but it could be a concentration project or even a breadth. I plan on writing something across my face with pen or something like that on the photo I posted or one from that shoot.
This week, I continued with my sewing project/seamstress i dont even know what to call it, project. I've just been working on gluing pieces onto the page which is pretty mundane, however, I realized that when you put the matte medium on top of some of the paper, especially the blue kind, it makes it look even more old and worn, which I like. So i've been experimenting with that. I know that after I'm done with that I'll cut the paper down most likely, or maybe not, I'm not sure. But I want the paper to look even more tattered and old so I may burn the edges. I want to also glue on (loosely) the skirt stencil above all of the photos and the sew with red thread into the lines of the stencil. I found a lot of inspiration for this art, some of which I had already pinned. For observation I did some cross hatching.
This week for sketchbook, I edited the photos I took for my last project. I ended up editing around 6 I think and only chose 3 for the series, but it was difficult for me to pick which ones I thought felt best together. I posted a few of the edited vs edited above. I also drew for observation, a picture of me drawing a picture of me.
I worked on a few different shots from one project I had an idea for. I'm not sure how successful it is in craft or concept but I am trying to be less literal in my work. I think after I edit the photos I want they will be strong. Some shots I think are a lot better than others but all three different ideas dont have photos that I think would go together so it might not necessarily be a series like I intended.
This week for sketchbook, I took some photos of Marin in front of street art in Ithaca. We walked around downtown and just took time to appreciate art. We also went to the rooftop of the parking garage and took a few photos. I loved this one because of the different colors of the buildings. I also sleep planned some more projects in my notes. I'm not sure what it all means now that it's daytime.
This week, I spent a lot of time learning my moms Photoshop and finishing my collage piece. This was one of the hardest pieces I've ever done because I felt like it was hard to be unexpected and unique. It didn't end up at all how I would've imagined but I am still content with how it ended up once I followed another idea. I had this same kind of concept in my head when I first started with this concentration way back for a summer assignment but I finally did it and in a very different way than I would've. For observation I just drew a power strip in the art room.
This week, I made some progress with my collage magazine piece. I started layering photographs and using blending layers to make them a lot less visible. I did this with a photo of a girl as well as some text. I think I'm going to be able to finish this piece for the next sustained investigation project so that is my goal.
For observation, I drew from a photograph on adobe draw. It's very rough but it's a window and the Arnot. And obviously, I have a ton of pictures from the museum including my own work hanging up! This was so cool and I had so many people come to support me, I am very grateful. A local artist that was on stage and I believe on the panel that was shaking hands with all of the winners told me that my work was very sensitive. All of the other work that they had up in the museum was so cool to look at, I can't wait to go back. This week, I finished my art club portrait. I was really bad at taking in progress photos so I only have a few. I did the whole think with Adobe Draw. I didn't end up drawing her headdress I just cropped it onto her face. I also edited on the ipad and drew on another portrait of a kid for art club.
I worked a ton on my child's portrait for art club. It needs to be finished by Thursday so that´ll most likely be the bulk of my sketchbook for next week too. I had started it in studio but realized how much I like drawing with adobe draw on my phone, and soon on the iPad, so I thought it would be a cool challenge. I have been struggling with inspiration for my other collage project which will be due soon. I don´t want to be cliche with it and I think a lot of times, using newspaper clipping in art is. I wanted to do something unique but at the same time portray the same message as a literal piece would. So, I found some really beautiful deconstructed multi media pieces on pinterest that I love and I think I could do something similar but with my clippings and obviously make it my own. I will take these as inspiration and so now I´m getting a lot more excited. I need to start planning out how to encouragement all of my clippings and plan some more.
